James Matlack Raney has been a professional storyteller for twenty years. He is the author of five novels, including the Writer’s Digest Book of the Year winner, Jim Morgan and the Door at the Edge of the World, and the Foreword INDIE winner, Lord of the Wolves. He has toured and spoken at hundreds of schools and book fairs and been a guest speaker at dozens of workshops for young writers across Southern California.

In 2019 he won the Tracking B Scripted Television Pilot contest and in 2021 worked for CBS on the hit show Bull, writing the episode Safe Space. Continuing to explore storytelling across diverse platforms, in 2022 he wrote, directed and produced two seasons of the popular, full-cast noir audio drama, STYX.

He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and daughter.
